Re: Animals- Yay or Nay?

normally i skip the first and last song on animals as i find those songs have no real depth musically and are quite boring. i really like "dogs" and "sheep" tho', however i only wish the songs were shorter and in return more songs were added to the album instead, i really think animals lacks musically and i believe even david gilmour commented on the album saying he didn't think to highly of it! i remember reading a comment by roger waters refering to the wall, the final cut and dark side of the moon as the only truely completed albums over the more popular floyd albums, i personally consider wish you were here an uncompleted album , as great as the album is! animals would have been perfect as a double album with it's themes and all, and the albums style is very original, like all floyd albums!! : )

Re: Animals- Yay or Nay?

Animals works as a whole. It's not just the music,it's everything working together."Sheep" is an incredible song, musically and lyrically. The bible references and everything. There isn't one bad song on this album.Floyd's best.Yes,even better than DSotM.My opinion any way.
Brilliant guitar playing on "Dogs" of course.

Re: Animals- Yay or Nay?

Animals is highly underrated because it's not easy listening, but to me it's one of their four best albums. The lyrics rock, and so does the music. What a moving moment was to see Roger with his acoustic guitar play Pigs on the wing, and right after the whole band come in to perform Dogs. I'll never forget that night.

Can't you see? It all makes perfect sense. Expressed in dollars and cents, pounds, shilings and pences.

Thumbs up Re: Animals- Yay or Nay?

Perhaps Animals has recieved mixed response because perhaps musically it isn't up to par with some of their previous releases. despite this it's the message behind the music that is really important. And, "Animals" argueabley has the most poignant and intense social messages of all their records up that point.

Re: Animals- Yay or Nay?

Animals ranks as one of my favorite PF albums, right up there with DSOTM and Wish.....of course TDB.

Re: Animals- Yay or Nay?

It's often hard to express, you know? There's a totally worthless album out in the rain that has all your expectations in it, but I'll take it in and dry it out, maybe put a decal included with the original vinyl release of 'Dark Side of the Moon' (by Roger Waters) in any place that might make it attractive to anybody at all that may have heard this useless collection of irrelevant dadrock (there are far too many these days, sadly) and then, when interest in this terribly soporific, greyed audio solely purchased on nostalgia and hope reaches it's zenith (which in truth, would be hard to measure without particularly sensitive equipment), I shall withdraw it from public view, retire it to the farthest Alaska of my record collection, where it can be rightly neglected for years. If happened upon, Nobody will bother to rediscover it's contents, unless they happen to be young, impressionable, deaf or a bit thick. Sometime in the long distant future. I'll sell that record, as soon as someone offers me money for it*
